I'd say society collapsed, rather than being stuck it looks like they are still working back to what they were. I'm going to make the assumption that alchemy and other advanced magic sciences probably regressed from some apocalypse level event bad enough that 500 years later they are still working on it.Of course I'm simply thinking too much about it, this is classic Medieval Stasis, no matter how many centuries passes it's still medieval society cause reasons :v
and she just goeswhere can you find someone who can brew these potions
Like the Bronze Age collapse? Makes sense.I'd say society collapsed, rather than being stuck it looks like they are still working back to what they were. Slavery has existed since prehistoric times. What's more weird to me is that she casually inquired about it without checking first if it hasn't become a taboo by the time she woke up. This could've been awkward otherwise...Fact that she's used to slavery means it already was a thing at her time, which makes me wonder, did this world not advance at all?
Considering the old capital got destroyed by monsters it wouldn't be a surprise if other cities, towns, villages got destroyed as well and resulting in small settlements of humans to rebuild everything from zeroFact that she's used to slavery means it already was a thing at her time, which makes me wonder, did this world not advance at all? Like, 500 years is a long time even in our world, with magic it should advance even faster theorically

At least that's my assumption by what we saw so far, including slavery still being a thing 500 years later
Could be worse, at least it's not another slave harem unless suddenly Girl's Love tag gets added![]()
I think if you knew that it had been a societally acceptable practice for thousands of years, you'd believe that it would still be the standard 500 years on.Slavery has existed since prehistoric times. Well slavery never stopped in Africa, Libya still have open air slave markets. And before facebook cracked down on it i saw ads for black castrated slaves in Arabic. So it's less of a backslide and more of us just ignoring slavery we aren't directly responsible for here in the west.I think if you knew that it had been a societally acceptable practice for thousands of years, you'd believe that it would still be the standard 500 years on.
People tend to forget that slavery being taboo is only in the West and parts of east and south Asia in the modern age. Chances are we're going to backslide on that as well. Considering most of the world's financial aid has been cut off, to rebuild after war or destruction requires power, without heavy machinery, it's slavery that will fill that gap. I get the feeling Sudan we be rebuilt by slaves once the conquest finishes for example.

That would require she had any idea it might be gone.Slavery has existed since prehistoric times. What's more weird to me is that she casually inquired about it without checking first if it hasn't become a taboo by the time she woke up. This could've been awkward otherwise...
I run in some seriously shoddy circles so I know for a fact that slavery is still very much operational globally.Well slavery never stopped in Africa, Libya still have open air slave markets. We like to go on about the transatlantic slave trade while turning a blind eye to the fact that african-arab slave trade only officially ended in the 1960/70s after going on since the 7th century
Yeah i think i remember something about Australia and new Zealand having problem with Maori slavers.I run in some seriously shoddy circles so I know for a fact that slavery is still very much operational globally.
The sub-Saharan slave trade you mentioned never stopped, they just operate at such a level that the west won't touch for global politick reasons.
The West has very little of it but it's there, America has the jail slaves, anywhere that has Muslims will have a marriage slavery scam, my country Australia defs does, sex slave trafficking is rampant in Asia and South America, the Middle East and Africa has a lot of labor slaves, the Catholics had a huge child abduction ring that quieted down after being caught in Ireland but they still abduct and sell children globally, the only place I have no clue about is India but if there's money, there's slavery.
People can only really know what what they've been taught or experienced themselves.
Maori gangs mainly just run drugs and guns, it's the Triads, Muslims and the CCP who do slavery over here.Yeah i think i remember something about Australia and new Zealand having problem with Maori slavers.
And i know about the 13th amendment of the US constitution having allowance for criminal slavery carved out in section one.
I mixed up the Maori with the Samoans, i found the article i thought of when i wrote that, about the Samoan Chief arrested for trafficking and enslaving 13 peopleMaori gangs mainly just run drugs and guns, it's the Triads, Muslims and the CCP who do slavery over here.
