The fact she's the only one who doesn't understand there must be a hidden reason and, despite hearing her father and grandfather arguing about "going to such length to hide her from the royal family" in front of her, doesn't ponder this new information and proceed with her plan, doesn't reflect favorably on her intelect.

Her "gotcha move" is just cutting her nose to spite her face.

She's a toddler, and toddlers have quite serious emptional needs that aren't getting closed to being covered there. Her chances at being picked up by a kind stranger from the street seem higher than her chances of growing up healthy in her prison.

there's a reason she waited until her grandfather and uncle arrived (people sympathetic to her plight with real power) before divulging all of this, even though she'd gathered the pieces beforehand. i highly doubt she's going to just walk out the front door and into the street empty handed, I bet she's going to try to get the grandfather/uncle to make arrangements for her to ensure her safety if she is leaving the household, and demonstrating her intelligence, knowledge, resourcefulness etc is showing them that she can take care of herself to a degree. mc has also been making preparations beforehand by training various skills and acquiring a means of moneymaking through her sewing

also no, it's not merely being "ignored". she's being habitually abused and kept ignorant on top of the constant neglect, to the point where she has to break rules and sneak out just to learn basic things about the world she's now stuck in and the situation her parents have put her in. her clothes are lower quality, she has basically zero quality of life in terms of entertainment, and she was deprived of library or tutor access until she forced her way through. mc has speculated in past chapter that this treatment will continue to happen until she grows older and is eventually sold off through marriage with a noble, which is far away from the freedom she desperately wants. her maids are also steadily leaving due to being of marriageable age, and there's no guarantee she will continue to be given new maids of the same level of competence and EQ

just having a roof over her head and stuff to eat isn't enough for her nor would it be enough for a lot of people, emotional fulfillment, freedom, entertainment and the like are necessities

I think I'm most perplexed about how she's chosen to make this grand accusation before all the servants. Then again, I think that the servants are already well aware that she is being ostracized by her family and with the commotion caused by her grandfather, what's a little extra chaos?

Her father's comment about the treatment being better than being used up by the royal family is insufficient. Her grandfather at least did not understand why he made the comment, since his son did not elaborate. (Though apparently the grandfather also did something which he regrets.)

Even if she's being concealed for good reasons, she has not received any love nor education. Before the reincarnation, she was essentially a doll due to the way she was treated.

She won't be living on the streets. Her uncle stated that her grandfather would take her custody and that's when she asked for a favour in order to force their hands; she got the money from her uncle. To put it simply, she didn't want to leave her fate to a discussion between her father and grandfather. She made a financial argument on her worth to justify her price, and then bought herself away with her uncle's money, so that she would be taken in his custody.

But obviously, just putting money in her father's hand isn't enough, because it's not like he accepted the deal and I'd expect some document to be signed if her custody is being brokered.

So yeah, I'm confused. I'm also very curious about the next chapter but I get the feeling that the resolution of this event will not be satisfying because we still won't have an explanation for what's going on. I mean, I expect her father is going to remain silent and accept the event, while the grandfather takes Magnolia away and does not actually discuss the reason for her mistreatment with his son.

I've seen spoilers posted in another chapter, and it only confirmed what I guessed from ch.3. So I don't think the father will stay silent and especially won't willingly let the grandfather or uncle take custody.

Does she really deserve a comeuppance if the power of the story is compelling her to hate Magnolia? It's not even her own will AFAIK. She at least shows some realization when hearing the comparison to the cat but seems like she can't resist the story.

She literally under house arrest. Like in the chapter literally mentioned that her mom cat treated 10 times better than her.
And no she ain't gonna ended in street her grandpa and uncle will gladly take her that's why she chose to do it now not later than she originally planned.

I agree with you, and seeing those kids being saved by someone or beating the odds and achieving their goals on their own is why I'm into these kind of stories, eg "Monster Duke's Daughter", "Not Sew Wicked Stepmom", "My Twin Sister Was Taken as the Miko...", "Am I the daughter?", "Who made me a princess", "On the way to meet mom", "The Snow Leopard Baby...", and so on.

However, in this case, remember that the MC has the mind of an adult, she isn't an innocent child longing for family love, she doesn't even see them as her family. And she choose to shoulder a goal she set herself based on incomplete information. She convinced herself that she'd be "sold into marriage" with no proof.

While I feel bad for the original Magnolia, and think her father attempt to change her fate is mishandled, the MC herself is an adult trapped in the body of a child, so I don't think the same standard should apply.
