p4: that's a giant bench...

wrt durian: given how there are trains, hotels, etc, that ban durians, it objectively smells bad. For me, the smell used to trigger migraines. That doesn't seem to happen anymore, but I still can't stand the smell.

I think people who are OK w/ the smell are the kind of people who sniff their used, dirty, sweaty socks :>

But those were totally a pair of kiwis that the vendor handed them, right? I'm not the only one seeing that, right?

Crazy how no one seems to weaponize durian yet.
We do actually...
As a fking knuckle...

After you eat all of the durian meat...
Then you can use the empty shell, make al little grip hole, then boom, you can use the skin as a spicky knuckle...

Or just throw it as is it....
But it's kind of heavy and hard to made a proper grip without a gloves...
That's why the knuckle way is more used since you're gripping the inside skin...

Hmmm... It seems that durian smells bad have become the common sense across media.

Even though that is neither common nor actually make sense. They semells good, it's just their smell is very strong, wait. Maybe using the word smell itself that make things wrong.

Their aroma is too strong. Just like how parfume is nice but too much just choke you off.

Depends on their breed, some durians have really strong taste and aroma and it can put off first timers. Some that are grown in certain places in Vietnam or Thailand for example have milder aroma and the flesh taste really good, it's like you're eating cream at that point.
Durian flavored ice cream usually is the better way for people who want to know what durian taste like for the first time, since it's a lot milder than most ripe durians you see out there.

I mean Durian stinks, the same way matured cheese can. Doesn't mean it's bad to eat. But... I'm thankful my condo doesn't allow durian inside (you can eat it on your balcony though lol), cause the smell stays. I have nightmares from my grandmother eating durian everyday while I was stuck in bed for a month and could only suffer migraines from the constant smell :dogkek:

Malaysian durians have stronger aroma. probably because of breed and they way they harvest. Thailand or Vietnam durian were picked from the trees but Malaysian durian were harvest when they fall by themselves. thus its more matures and the flesh is more soft, creamy and tastes sweeter and more complex. Because of that, the aroma are far stronger because that is the ripest durian you can get.

you either love durian or hate durian. There is no in between.
