@Liquidxlax The arithemetic goblin was probably nearby when a goblin with super strength passed away, so he inherited the skill.

The whole chapter is a little bit strange on that front, as it's unclear how name inheritance encourages goblins with similar skills to hang out.

Not sure if you still want an explanation after 5+ years.
But previously, the goblins would just hang out with whoever they wanted. So, the type of skills that got inherited are random.
Let's say A has [arithmetic] and B has [super strength]. If A and B are in the same group, it's likely for A to inherit [super strength] when B dies. But because [super strength] doesn't complement [arithmetic], A doesn't become more capable in calculation.

But then MC named one of the fighters as Hanzo, and anyone with combat skills should join his group. Because the fighters group up, that means they're likely to transfer their skills to another fighter. The next generation becomes more powerful with more combat skills instead of unrelated skills.
And this doesn't just apply to the fighters. Crafters, merchants, etc would become more capable with more related skills.
