Man, some people are way too bloodthirsty in this comment section. They seem to forget the adventurers might be willing to do these things, but they're paid by someone else to do so. In many settings, adventurers don't just hunt monsters, sometimes they also hunt bandits. It's hardly surprising their sense of morality is warped and I'd personally only see them as tools, with their employer bearing the responsibility of their actions (though in reality, the employer likely will distance himself from them if they ever get caught).
The pig son definitely needs to be dealt with. He's truly rotten so I'm curious what the village chief will choose to do.
I quite enjoy the pace myself even if it's a bit slow. I mean, I was even confused when it suddenly switched from the battle to the thugs playing cards. And as expected, MC is showing how absurdly strong he is.
Yeah I can’t understand how anybody thinks this dirt farm of a village is worth anything
We don't really know anything about the village to be honest. Apparently, merchants rarely pass by, so it appears to be in a frontier and nowhere of use to be a trading nexus. There probably are some resources that could be exploited once the place develops but as shown it appears to be in a poor location for that with the lack of water. So yeah, as it is, it doesn't seem to be exceedingly valuable.
I also don't understand the thugs' logic of getting rid of all the villagers; right now the main value of the village for a potential owner would be taxing the people living in it (and appropriately investing in it so that the villagers generate more wealth and more tax revenue).
This village must be worth a fortune if such high-tier foes capable of fighting dragons are harassing it.
Honestly, these thugs are surprisingly competent. The bald guy might even have a moral fiber, though it's hard to say.
I'm guessing this is just easy money for them. As in, they made a name for themselves as adventurers and then got hired by a wealthy merchant based on those achievements so now they can just get paid well without putting themselves in dangerous situations. (I mean, they might claim they can take down dragons, but they probably can't do it unscathed.)
As for the merchant who hired them, he probably makes enough off of his nefarious activities to cover their pay and make a nice profit on top so that's enough justification on his side.
