Being the noisy cunt that I am, I decided to actually check the raws.

And look what I find. The kanji for his name are different from those in your screenshot. And when I check the name written with kanji...

Huh. How about that.

Joking aside, here's a lesson for you from a retired translator. Don't trust furigana. It's an aid, but it's not always the way to go for searching the meaning of a word or how it's spelt.

In this case, you fell for the common belief that if it's a small kana, then it'll be depicted as a smaller character than the rest. The problem is that if you make the furigana any smaller, it'll be hard to read, so they make the small kana the same size.

Here's a random page from a random Japanese light novel I own. Found an example for you on my first attempt.

You'd read that "itsupan" if we follow how you translated the guy's name, but in reality it's "ippan".

Consider yourself schooled, son.

I know the font doesn't make it easy to discern but his name is Ryuuki, as in, dragon, not Riyuuki. It should have been obvious if you spend just a few seconds to think about it. What kind of name is Riyuuki.
Consider yourself vindicated, bud.

Oh, I stand corrected. Thank you, I'll fix it soon
