it's not really of a trend, but it's sort of a way to show that MC treasures his relationships, and doesn't want to do something that can lead his girls on?
another point: is many corporate slaves (which a lot of these isekai MCs are) didn't have time/energy for actual relationships and did visit prostitutes before , so it's relatable to them

death march is unfortunate that loli girls weren't MC 's type,
I'm guessing you've read Jaryuu Tensei too - I was also put off by that MC - him thinking of re-selling her especially disgusted me.

but I do agree with MC's decision in this series because lunamiria worships him too much and is expecting something from him that he may not be able to commit to - like she's the type of girl who could easily become too clingy/yandere if MC deals with her too rashly
