Is Hina the one misgendering Aki (class prez) all the time or is that you? If it's you, you should start using "he" instead, considering he said way back in chapter 2 that he'd always wanted to be a boy. He's a boy, so use masculine right pronouns. Pretty straightforward.

If it's not in the original dialogue (which would still be shitty, but that would be on the mangaka, not the translator), then please start using "he" instead of "she." Hell, even if it is in the original text, it'd still be cool of you to correct the constant misgendering.

Although tbh, I kind of doubt it's in the original text, considering how pronouns generally aren't used in Japanese. At least not to the extent they are in your translation.

Worth mentioning that "watashi" is situationally gender neutral, usually in formal situations. A handsome uptight glasses boy might use it. Though in an informal context they might opt for "jibun" rather than "boku".

No one feels like mentioning that Mikoto is clearly bigger than Aki?

So mikoto was a girl but got victimized and became a boy....wait, what if mikoto and aki kissed? Wouldn't that turn aki back to being a girl? I mean aki became a boy because she kissed Hinata but if she kissed mikoto then her virus would turn her into a girl again. And if hinata and mikoto kiss each other they'll go back to their old bodies. Well hopefully the injection of the virus won't be cancelled out for being the same virus . I mean replacing hina's virus with mikoto's.

Yes, and I know characters from different stories where they use something different for a reason. But here I felt like it would be more confusing and they just stick to their original gender words among people who know their secret. (Also Aki is in no way formal with Hina) This is why I use these pronouns. And people who don’t know about the gender change, like Yurina, use the pronoun that she thinks.

@Evandel So first of all, Aki's body is entirely male. Calling him "female" is just objectively wrong.

Second, Aki stated he prefers being a boy, always wanted to be a boy, and now is living as a boy. He's a boy. Respect his identity.

And as far as the MC goes, Hina also says he's still a boy and expresses the desire to go back to being male. As far as I'm concerned, at this point in the story they are both boys. Maybe that will change, but Hina hasn't shown any desire to remain a girl (yet), so it's best to go by what he's saying and feeling. Biology != gender identity, and the former trumps the latter when it comes to things like pronouns.

Honestly, I don't know why someone with your perspective would read a gb manga in the first place. How like this genre but then throw around transphobic bullshit like that?

@chenando1 That's only if they were subjected to two separate virus strains. As already proven, once infected you are immune to being changed back via the same virus and most likely (Occam's Razor) there isn't more than the one strain.

@lil_puddin_cups You're not wrong, but I'm not sure the author put that much thought into it. X) That's the issue with translating this kind of manga. A profound study on gender identity, this is not. And Japanese doesn't have to bother with pronouns most of the time, so it's easier for them…

Hina is a girl no matter how much he denies it. Remember biology=sex and sex=gender

You can't even get your pronouns straight and you think I should trust you on something as complicated as gender? My dude, you don't have the faintest clue what you're even talking about, do you?
