this seems more like a yuri genderbender rather than a straight romance with genderent protags. nothing wrong with it but i would at least label this shoujo ai if anything. the yuri vibes are just too strong. still a fun series though.

@whodoo

Originally on MangaOne it’s in the “For young boys” category. I just chose Seinen Category here because some scenes are considered H-scenes on the West and I wanted to be safe.

@belenuzx

Most of previous chapters have the published chapters. This chapter will be in Volume 4 that isn’t released yet so this is the web version of the manga. Web version is censored.

@whodoo shoujo ai? Why would you suggest that over yuri? Considering that means "love for little girls" aka "pedophilia" and not 2 girls in love.
*checks mangadex's tags* Oh boy, no wonder, mangadex still has shoujo/shonnn ai tag.
I would say more about that, but this isn't a place for it.

@lilmagi shoujo ai means yuri or girls love but its a more light term for it. or so i thought after googling some people say it means loli while others say it means a girls love that focuses less on sex which is what i always thought it meant. https://web.archive.org/web/20050406035511/http://www.yuricon.org/essays/whatisyuri.html https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-yuri-and-shoujo-ai I guess in japan it means loli but here it means girls love.

It runs on Ura Sunday same as Yuusha ga Shinda, Mangaupdates have the majority of their series as Shounen with a few Seinen so I dont fault you for picking this but ... To-Love-Ru was certainly Shounen as written on the magazine name and this is nowhere near whats common in Seinen publications.

And Shoujo Ai isnt a demographics in case anyone is wondering.

@lilmagi I'm a year late but I just want to point out that you've misunderstood what those terms mean. Yuri/Yaoi is just the more explicit version of Shoujo/Shounen-ai, and regarding the age range of Shoujo/Shounen, it generally depends but normally it is used to refer to girls/boys up to the age of 19 (just before 20 where they are considered adult in Japan).

@ariared26 I didn't misunderstand anything. Shoujo ai is just a western concept, which means quite a different thing in Japan. Yuri being just about more explicit is again a western concept. It's the new fans like you and mangadex that keep perpetuating this. Honestly, I would suggest you go to /u/, or dynasty reader forums and say the same thing you did there. See how well you do.
But I have given up of it ever being dropped.

@lilmagi You're right about the usage of shoujo-ai being synonymous to lolicon in Japan (I apologise because I wasn't aware until just now), but considering that we are discussing things in English I was mainly referring to how the phrases are used in the west, and it's not 'new fans' and mangadex, this phrased has been used since over a decade ago. It is relatively new if you compare it to when it first started to be used in Japan.

But isn't it similar to how the word 'Hentai' became synonymous to Anime Porn in the west, or how 'Doujin' is used to commonly refer to Manga Porn. The word 'Shoujo Ai' and 'Shounen Ai' have been widely misused and perpetuated in the community way before batoto and mangadex appeared.

If you go to the Japanese Wikipedia https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%B0%91%E5%A5%B3%E6%84%9B
On Shoujo-Ai there's a section that says even in Japan there have been occasions where it's been used to refer to Yuri-related works, but it also says that the term is widely used in the west. You can probably take this as another case of cultural appropriation?

@ariared26 Ok my mistake by not expanding when I said new fans. I know shoujo ai has been used for a long time. I have been a member of shoujoai.com forum after all. That was started back in 2001. I and we as the community didn't know any better. By new fans and mangadex, and I guess Myanimelist and similar websites. I meant they are the ones that still keep using it. New fans don't know any better, and websites don't care to change. Comparing it to Hentai isn't quite the same, as Hentai can just mean pervert, or abnormal. Not the same as the lolicon.
I just think that we that do know better should stop using it, and adapt better alternatives. Like "girls' love", or GL. Or even just "girls' skinship" for less romantically explicit. Dynasty Reader uses Yuri, for when it's explicitly romantic and subtext when it's not (where shoujo-ai would have been used). Even official translation publications have stopped using shoujo-ai.

Also sorry for including you in that category, for all I know you are an old fan.

@lilmagi No worries, I get where you're coming from now. But as of now, I think it'd be really hard to try to shift the meaning of the two phrases as it's been deeply ingrained (I was about to mention MAL as an example), as unfortunate as it seems, with the actual Japanese meaning being disturbing.

And, I was questioning your definition of 'new fans' at first but considering I wasn't even old enough to be in primary in 2001, it might be sort of true in your eyes. I'd only started reading manga in 2008ish (Naruto, Rave Master, PHD Olympus), and the otaku community at my school had already used the western version of the terms (mostly the fujoshi shipping guys together).
