For context, in Medieval Europe, until around the 17th century, it was common for noble girls to marry in their young teenage years to secure their political lineage, so it's not about pedo sexual fetishism like nowadays.
And, btw, the prince himself might be only around 16 years old. He's the same age as Yumie's brother and Monica, you know. They're not that far in age. And by definition, a pedophilia needs to be more than 5 years older.

Eeven still, usually it's families coming into agreement to marry their children regardless of those children's ages, not young men coming right up to little girls and proposing to them. Again, this the same girl who was sitting in her brother's lap while eating a snack.

She's 11. The birthday party in chapter 5 was for her 11th birthday. Her age was 10 before the birthday party, mentioned in chapter 3, page 11.
For families coming into a marriage proposal, I agree that there should be a form of formal arrangement, but for this one, it's like a high schooler asking a junior to date (the very first step before a real marriage) because "dating" wasn't a thing in that era (they only knew marriages). And, you might be mistaken, Yumie didn't eat snacks in Neil's lap in the previous chapter; they sat side-by-side.

Welp, yes, sadly, the mangaka decided to end the serialization and focus on their upcoming original manga. There are so much potential in the original light novel, such as the backstory of the beast girl, the end of Neidhart's evil plans, Yumie's future relationship, etc.

I get where he's coming from, though. Having a charming and popular figure among the nobility and common people would make ruling a kingdom much easier, and it's possible for the MC to be that figure with her wit and charm. After all, ruling a country require rationality and from rational perspective, she's a good candidate. The whole thing is why we have a grandpa marrying a young girl and vice versa during our earlier history anyway. That's just how it was.
Even so, it'd still be creepy if he did actually get seduced by the MC lol, but he seemed to only think of her as interesting girl for now. Or maybe his fetish is a smart and clever girl?
