At least before, flying was extremely taxing on him in the long run, probably something like full sprint is to a human. Would you just sprint everywhere as fast as you could, even if you wanted to be prompt (remember, it's not life or death atm)? Though, flying up and gliding for a bit would be enough to get your bearings at least for a bit, so you're at least partially on point with that take.
