Most likely this, otherwise why put that dramatic return of that dude at the end of chapter 83?

We know the anime/manga tropes too well at this point...he is going to grow more big and powerful and more evil, putting everyone at dead point again or killing someone (hopefully not) and that dude in chapter 83 is going to save the day or be key to defeat the big old fart.

the manga forgot to mention that the threads were suspended in the air thanks to the fact that they used air compression to create solidified air.

and also that in the final moment Fran and teacher wrapped themselves in a wind barrier for three reasons:
-protect themselves from the evil fog
-reduce air resistance to accelerate even more
-and avoid being damaged by burner.

because in the novel this moment was the first time where they used the spell and it is described as a technique that uses an explosion on your back to forcibly accelerate
