So this sidestory really does occur in LN Vol. 12 during the months-long time skip between the Demon Lords' meeting in Rimuru and the start of Imperial mobilization preparations. Or so I believe.

Not sure if you're referencing the WN (where he's seen as much stronger) but in the LN (at least according to the Raws) they're a lot closer in terms of power (at least Testarossa is (the one we saw at the end)) with Diablo.
