Every time I read one of the butchered names that this translator just made up out of thin air rather than keeping with the same names that have been used in WN, manga, and now the official English translations of the LN, it grates on me worse than one of those throbbing tooth aches that feel like electricity is being shot straight from the tooth, through your eye, into your brain. ラミリス is absolutely translated and spoken as Ramiris (well, spoken as Ramirisu in Japan, actually, but they tend to not annunciate the ‘oo’ sound of the syllables that end in ‘oo’, even though they swear they do), and yet he insists on translating it as Lamris which isn’t even a real name. Neither is any of the other (made-up) names that he’s gone to so much trouble to explain why he changed the original (actual) name to what he came up with. Given many of the names in this story were made up by the author, but they all Japanese structure to them, and they’re made the same way all Japanese names are made. However, the names he’s changed don’t. Even Google translation knows that ラミリス means Ramiris, I don’t even want to get into the other names or I’ll be here forever. The fact that this guy is on a quest to change all these character’s names is what’s called a ‘translator’s power trip’. I wish he’d get over it and change the names back to the way they are supposed to be.
