Parting due to the difference is ages must be hard indeed for Aesir.

Grief makes us human, after all. To be detached from the pain of loss is to be less of a person.
It's also called accepting death in some cases. I mean, sure it's sad, but life goes on. With or without you. Humans tend to put so much importance towards themselves when we're just cosmic dust in the end.

the mc of experimental log of crazy lich
Yep. And point being; Roland deeply regretted it.

Whole point of Experimental Log (at least until where I got off when the TL changed) was Roland reclaiming his humanity after his fall and immortal lifetime.

I wish I could pick it back up, it was pretty entertaining. But the TL group's behavior sort of killed it.

It hurts so good.
People say Frieren is good at depicting the passage of time but this is leaps and bound over it with how casually years pass through the chapters.

I don't even want to try to remember how old Kaushman and Nonna are right now.
While they both have a strong element of time passing, I think the stories have different purposes so it hits differently.

Frieren is about reconnecting with the past by learning to live in the present. It is only through her current journey that she finally realizes the meaning in the adventures she already had. There is definitely a distinct passage of time as she revisits places for a second time, but it's softened due to Frieren's current party being a constant in all the stories.

High Elf is more about how the world around you can change without you noticing. Acer doesn't really need to learn to live in the present like Frieren does, but the manga loves to hammer home just how different his present is to everyone around him. He can casually dedicate a decade to learning a new skill, only to "suddenly" find that people he met just the other day have grown old, had kids, or even passed away. We feel the passage of time so much more because Acer doesn't have constant, unchanging companions like Frieren does. Whenever we catch up with characters we've seen before they've visibly changed and it hurts.

For me, Frieren covers it in slightly different way. This one shows a bigger picture while Frieren is much more intimate.

Even knowing that the pain is coming, though you've prepared for it, it's still hurt nonetheless.

its interesting at how this little story of adventures was executed

they started out as an adventure party
but elf girl & knight were an item with priestess girl being jelly
samurai girl joins them sometime later

then elf girl leaves party cuz of a realization/events making way for priestess Girl to shack up with the knight despite elf girl still loving knight yet cuz she’s BBFs with priestess girl she was somehow okay with it

samurai girl leaves too after & the party disbands
years later samurai girl who is inexperienced with men & probably didn’t know of anyone better makes a crazy request of Sperm donation to the now married knight & priestess

perplexed at the request they eventually accepted samurai girls plea after remembering their elven comrades which samurai girl made a promise with.

knight & samurai girl then proceed to get busy with wild hot baby making sperm donation as the knight needed to piston pump the delivery into samurai girl until she was with child (not sure if priestess girl joined in?)

once the pumping & dumping into samuraI girl confirmed that she was with child she left them & went on her way to fulfill her cursed promise with our mc elf whom she is so desperately infatuated with

many events & years later pass which leads us to this chapter at the graves of his friends & potential death of his beloved too
Urgh, you laying out the baby making process just so that samurai girl could fullfil her 'promise' is just 🤮
I already disgusted buy the whole thing but i gave up... Convincing myself that they all agree on the whole thing so who am i to judge.
I guess having a married sperm donor is better choice that to be married to someone that you didn't love?
Anyways the deen is done. The kids grown and the adults are gonna perish soon.
I just hope that this is the last of the creepy obsession cuz ill be demn if he got one of the samurai girl for every 50 years 🙃

I don't want anyone to freak out, but we're getting to the technological level of living for thousands of years, and there will be people in your life who do not choose to take up that amount of time. Soon, in a not very distant future, you will be faced with potentially hundreds of years to live, if not thousands, even indefinitely as we mature as a species. You will be faced with such happenings, fleeting moments of time spent with loved ones old and new, and as you adjust to this new flow of time it will feel like flashes of water in a hot pan. You may doubt my words, or have some part of you that holds death in high regard, but it is not our natural state to die. Pray we can find safe harbors for our emotional turmoil, that we will still love and have meetings to bring us such agony. The first immortal has already been born, and it may be you.

This is why immortality sucks if you have feelings. Better to become a Lich with no feeling that just craves knowledge and power.
honestly, i kinda compare this to having pets
some people become best friends with their pets who have a much shorter lifespan than themselves, and their pet's passing hits them like a train, except elves can communicate with people, speak the same language, and have pretty similar lifestyles
i also remember reading a comment somewhere saying being a dog or cat is wild. its like an elf randomly decides to be your friend, feed you, give you a home, and play with you. the elf (the pet's owner) basically doesnt age at all for your entire life and randomly leaves for a long time really often (people going to work).

Kinda use to long lifespan mc stories. This mc's character growth doesn't stop compared to the others.
