Seriously. They laugh at him instead of being concerned about the domestic abuse that keep on escalating and already is likely to cause permanent harm?

Ah yes, how could you get offended by this? Seeing a child get smacked into unconsicousness, now that's comedy. And the all the physical roughing up? Well, they're just siblings being siblings. You never had siblings that assault you? That smack you around at the dorp of a hat? That leave marks on your skin from brute force alone? Then how could you say you even had siblings. Lol, get a thicker skin bro. Besides, who would even talk with a child like that? A child acting like a child? He should be locked up in prison for that. Playing a prank, calling people names, how fucking dare he?

You are buying into Al's exaggerations. Leaving an impression on skin isn't very hard, does not require immense strength, and depending on the type of skin, such marks will be even easier to make. Clothes will for instance easily leave marks on my skin, and if I just rest my face on something, the spot that is being crushed will eventually become reddish and none of that causes any pain whatsoever. His skull was not almost crushed and his sister does not have inhuman strength. (I mean, how about reading Kengan Omega's latest chapter to see what a beating looks like.) Al's sister was worried for Al when he got knocked out unconscious, so you can be sure that if she actually did cause him harm, she would regret it.

I also find that his dad knocking him unconscious and flying out was too much, at least for our modern sensibilities, but again, this was the only instance of his father doing this and when it comes to teaching swordsmanship, I find it natural enough to expect the same tough attitude and harsh physical treatment as seen in the army. So no, I do not see it as abuse, and I do see it as teaching a lesson because Al, was, as usual, not being mindful of what he was saying and not being respectful to his parents. Also, while Alfried was sent flying in a very flashy way, he noted it himself at the end before fainting: nothing hurt. The fact is that while Nord did hand out some retribution to Alfried, he did so in an extremely precise, controlled and skillful manner. Even earlier during the sparing, while Al's dad was being tougher on him, he was still teaching him that he should watch out about being tripped and such.

As for his mom, sure, she was being a bit vindictive when she was encouraging Al to get up during his spar with his dad, but I would expect that she trusted her husband on this matter. As for this chapter, as I've explained, a handprint is not something to worry about so I do not see it as her needing to take any action. There was also nothing mean spirited about her laughing - his face looked funny because of the mark.

Don't get me wrong, I would never recommend hitting a child, or an adult, in any circumstance and especially not on the head. But this is fictional slapstick comedy, which still seems believable enough, and it is absolutely hilarious to read. I have read the manga just as you have, and my perspective is clearly different from yours. I'm just stunned at the emotional and negative response to something that is fictional and that I personally do not even see as a problem.

(I mean, I'm skimming through the comments and stumble across this jewel:
If he wasn't an isekai'ed character, the child would have turned into a sniveling yes man who wouldn't eat, would run away and hide out in the forest and would have been truant and ultimately have run away from home to become an adventurer the moment he could.
and I'm just facepalming so hard it is definitely leaving a print on my face.)

@Kireato The shading on the imprint makes it look like an actual indent, not just a mark. I don't know about you, but I have a very pudgy face yet my forehead only has pretty much skin over my skull. Meaning an indent like that would necessitate my skull being deformed. That, coupled with the fact that children by nature have softer skeletons, means it's very likely Al suffered actual brain damage. Since her grip strength is enough to cause that much harm on a large spherical object, something that is very hard to do with just your hand, coupled with this, means that, yeah, she has inhuman capabilities. At least by our standards. All while she's still a child.

Have you ever been seriously hurt, or had the wind knocked out of you completely? Shock is a hell of an anaesthetic, meaning it's very likely he didn't actually feel the pain his body was experiencing. And then he promptly passed out, which is a normal response to huge amounts of pain. Go figure. About him being a little shit to his parents; that's just being a kid. All children are assholes, it's part of the learning process. Mess up, get corrected, and learn from it. Not get fucking knocked the hell out by your father. I don't see how Elenora can be excused with "just kids being kids", yet Al can't? He's six years old (at least from their perspective).

Edit: I checked again, and Al mentions he actually suffered a concussion. So yeah, dad got pissed off and caused actual physical harm to his six-year-old kid. Great parenting.

Yeah, the mother trusted her husband enough to not even be concerned about her unconscious kid. If my kid fell unconscious after a hit like that, I'd stay with them until they woke up. And maybe her laughing wasn't mean spirited, to her. But what would that teach a normal child? That their suffering is great fun, meaning his mother doesn't even care slightly about his well-being. She may have found it funny, but she's a fucking mother; she should know better than to laugh, and to show at least a little bit of concern.

You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm happy you enjoy it. But since you don't see how people can find actual abuse horrible just because "this is fictional slapstick comedy", I don't want anything to do with you. I intensely disagree with your personal belief, so I won't read any further replies. Enjoy your manga!

Like I said, this comment section is almost as hilarious as the manga. I mean, you're trying to make a case that Al's skull was deformed. I guess we'll know if we see that the hand print remains on his skull for the rest of the manga because it was deformed.

I'd say the reason Al didn't feel any pain was because he was hit on the head. He didn't have any broken limbs nor bruise to the body, so no, I wouldn't agree with you that the pain was so shocking he didn't feel it. That's just you reaching, again.

I'm not sure why you're saying that Elenora is being excused while Al isn't. As far as I'm concerned, at least, I've never said that I found any issue with Al's mischievousness. In any case, since Al doesn't stop provoking the people around him even though he should fully understand the consequences by now, it's because it doesn't bother him that much.

Indeed, Al mentions he suffered a concussion and it's hard to say what that means exactly. Was the translation accurate? What symptoms did he suffer from exactly? Knowing his personality, did he just really want to spend time in bed? In any case, it's best to accept it for what it is, and say that his father gave him a concussion as after all he was knocked out long enough to find himself changed and in bed, but honestly it's not that hard to get injured in contact sports, so I don't find it unexpected that swordsmanship training would end up with such injuries at times. Did his father go too far? Definitely. Would I call that abuse? No. It was a one time event, and from all the other interactions with his father, he's otherwise a gentle person. Mistakes happen and are easier to make when emotionally triggered.

Since we see things from Al's perspective, we have no idea about what happened between when he fainted and the moment he woke up in bed to his sister and Roomba's faces. I personally think it would have been fairly odd if everyone just waited there until he woke up. His sister was there to monitor him, and she clearly wanted to take this opportunity to pamper him.

Al wasn't suffering in any way from the hand print on his forehead. He was obviously well, which is why his mother didn't show concern besides her initial surprise. I don't know why you're trying to make an argument that a normal child would be affected differently by this - Alfried's reactions have conditioned his families responses. He doesn't cry from the "abuse" he's suffering and instead plans his retaliations. There's no sense in trying to protect someone from something which doesn't bother them. Besides, there's no such thing as a normal child - individuals have their own unique behaviour and reactions to things. In this instance, Al isn't bothered by this behaviour, which has no malice behind it, and that is all that matters to determine if it's alright or not.

I do find actual abuse horrible, and there are manga which depict actual abuse and this just isn't it. I was just pointing out that, additionally, this is fictional (manga will depict some situations in over the top ways and it should not be read into too deeply), and the physical vindications are clearly meant as slapstick comedy.

I certainly agree that since our perspective differ and neither of us have found a way to change the other's perspective there's little point to continuing this discussion with the intention of changing the other's perspective. I believe I understand how you feel since I have certainly had similar feelings for other manga depicting abuse, but I definitely do not understand how you view this particular manga to be an abominable depiction of abuse. You're clearly not alone to have these feelings, from what I see in this comment section, so clearly what is depicted in this manga is where you and some others draw the line on what is not acceptable.

I can relate completely with waking up thinking you wet the bed when you dreamed of peeing. And his internal conflict on going to pee or keep sleeping is basically every morning of my life, and I normally try to go back too sleep, If It takes too much I go pee and then go back to sleep always works for me.

Poor Silvio didn't deserve that. MC should have summoned a stone wall in front of his door ir something like that to stop his sister.

You've...never actually watched that show, have you? Archie was the butt of most of the jokes. All in the Family was more woke than almost anything on TV these days.

@squerl I'm 45, of course I watched the show, I grew up on it. And yeah, he was the butt of his jokes, but nowadays, his "jokes" would still spur outrage from all the special snowflakes that can't stand a person sneezing without getting offended by them.

"Ahaha, your more-than-10-years-older-big-sister hurt you so bad that she left a bruise on your forehead, so funny!"
I really hope there's a chapter somewhere in the future where a Maou wakes up and kills everybody in this household, except for the MC.

Can't you guys who couldn't handle it stop reading the manga. If you hate what's happening throughout the chapters, you can just make yourself not knowing what happened. It's purely idiotic to throw tantrums in every single chapter, but kept on reading any new chapters while knowing what would happen.
