Wierd misconception about chivalry and knighthood that probably comes from age of romanticism iteration of Arthurian legends is that being knight is all about restrictive honor codes and plate armor.
Codes are divided between religious traditions initially made to form functioning society, etiquette so that warrior caste won't kill each other with each social gathering and combat restrictions do distinct war and extermination. Complaining about any of that would be condoning chemical weapons, random shootings and basic rule and norms breaking for personal convenience in modern days.
Also for some reason people forgetting knight is feudal (hence they could afford heavy armor) and along with pledge to suzerain it also makes you noble and give you such freedom as not being flogged because you looked at some landlord in wrong way or bowed at wrong angle.
