I'm guessing she's ambitious, and will use everything she can to get what she wants. Including but not limited to her skills, and being a social chameleon to appeal to others around her to establish relations. Possibly for independence, recognition, to maybe to take over her household or gain accolades of her own to build a foundation for herself.

She certainly has need of the MC's strength for something. We just don't know what yet.
