They are not trying to kill her they want her for her magical power same as the young boy since they are children of the four lords who have great magic power, the baby and young boy have the power to make a powerful barrier around things and the kidnapper wants the power for his kingdom.

I so loved that considering they are after said "common property" to save. This series has some good writing and stuff then they have some naff stuff like that lol.

Er... Hem.

When you look at some of the political discourse that's been going on here in the USA, attitudes like that one are almost tame by comparison.

Fredrick S. Perls once wrote in his book, Gestalt Therapy Verbatim:
As Albert Einstein once said to me: “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity.” But what is much more widespread than the actual stupidity is the playing stupid, turning off your ear, not listening, not seeing.
(Which is where we get that quote from, as Einstein never uttered it in any verifiable record or account.)

So. Hifalutin nobles gettin' high on their horses and saying idiotic shit and treating children like they're some kind of property? Yeah. I can believe that.

Oh I believe they're stupid, but you can instantly bebunk their logic by saying "So you want us to leave the Common property to die? I thought you were just saying they can't"

Oh, not at all. It is true that they represent an important "resource" to their kingdom. It's just that these guys are on a very slippery slope there, and if not for the King and the Princes intervening here, it seems like they'd've fallen into the gap at the bottom.

Pretty stupid to make a system where the royal family and the 4 houses (aka the ones doing the work keeping the barrier up) are just empty titles. The ones with real power are the ones that actually have territories to manage and their own soldiers along with it. The royals and 4 houses are pretty much just tools. Better to just leave the territory and make your own where you can actually build up power to protect your family.
