That’s a good way to get slapped with a dcma. Companies with ownership rights over a series don’t typically welcome someone working on said series. This is why most groups go for series with no official translations as companies in Japan turn a blind eye on it.

If you’re wanting to translate a series there’s probably a few hundred manga series that haven’t seen the light of day or been worked on for over a decade that I can recommend to you

It's just Mangadex being cautious with copyright, there are sites that have translations that go up to chapter 45!
