This is nice since the LNs didn't really have much detail how Alvis fell for Benimaru, just kinda handed out that they were sorta already hanging out by the time they went to the Tengus place, and until Momiji was in the running that Alvis declared her intention to be Beni's wife.

Aaannndd jesus Carrion's getting dried by the harpies(all female race) was not in my bingo. I get the rules of survival wanting to get the strong genes but still, the implications kind went wild there for the very SoL slime diaries.

This is nice since the LNs didn't really have much detail how Alvis fell for Benimaru, just kinda handed out that they were sorta already hanging out by the time they went to the Tengus place, and until Momiji was in the running that Alvis declared her intention to be Beni's wife.

honestly, that was a brilliant piece of writing as I never thought about the connection between the two of them, but they did kind of go through the exact same thing so this kind of conversation could have certainly happened and could’ve been the reason why she fell for him

The thing with Carrion actually does sort of make sense in the lore. In Slime, Harpy's, especaily Frey, only truly respect other winged races/people. Since Carrion has wings, even if they're not always out, he would seem like a suitable mate. Though Frey doesn't need him, or anyone for that matter. As a Queen-Harpy (a sub-species), she reproduces asexually. Hence her 3 daughters.

Overall you are correct, polygamy is generally banned in Tempest. However, there are a few loopholes to that rule.

Spoiler: How it went

Since Benimaru wasn't able to decide between the two, Albis actually used a loophole in Tempest's law to get the permission. I don't recall the exact law, but I think you can take a person, as a 2nd spouse if they are a rare species, who's previous spouse died. So Albis just "married" a certain someone, took them into the labyrinth and killed him there.
