And reminder to everyone: Toruru wasn't just blackmailing Hahari there, she was blackmailing the entire Rentarou Family. She outright tells her that, should she tell her dad to run the story about the Rentarou Family, then the family itself would be subjected to societal stigma for their having been in a non-conventional romantic relationship and more than likely be forced to drop out. Considering how big a deal both reputation and education are in Japan, for most people that would be pretty much a death sentence, the Rentarou Family only avoiding that theoretically since the Hanazono's are rich as hell and Rentarou will literally break reality to make his girlfriends happy.
Even if what Toruru did was ill thought out like I mentioned above, it speaks more to her character over how she had no problem condemning over a dozen people to social suicide just for the sake of "pursuing a scoop".
