So he was barefoot when he visited his friend. But by the end of the chapter, he has slippers on again. I bet there were no shops selling slippers that late at night. He must've bought new ones as soon as shops opened the next day. Good thinking 
The Ares Guild Korean Branch Manager refused to accept Hyeonwoo Kim because he was scared of losing his position to someone stronger and more competent than him in the future. In other words, the Branch Manager and current Ares Guild have basically created their own artificial ceiling because it is run by people who value their own power and positions over the genuine, future growth of the company/guild. From this conversation, the author has indicated to us that the Ares guild will get walked all over by Hyeonwoo and we will no longer even consider them a significant part of the story somewhere down the road (if not, already).
Anyways, I found this interesting because the Ares Guild Korean Branch Manager comes off as a pathetic person and someone you absolutely would avoid having in your IRL business, at least beyond a certain stage of a company's growth. A good example of a person who is bad for a position that could be found in a Business textbook or course.
