I think it would be around the same level of wholesomeness but having it more as a sort of princess solving mysteries but much closer to the frontlines in regards to intrigue. She would also be somewhat oblivious of Jinshi affection despite being engaged to him and assumes its due to being childhood friends and politics rather than love. It be interesting to see her relationship with the courtesans for the current Emperor

It's interesting to think about the idea of a happy family for Maomao. But honestly, I've wondered about this before. After all, Maomao only learned medicine from her uncle because he was worried about her future. To keep her from ending up working in a brothel, he decided to teach her medicine. But what if Lakan and Maomao's mom had just gotten married normally? Maomao might not have learned medicine from her uncle and could have lived a more "princess-like" life. Another possibility (and here comes a small spoiler from the light novels, so heads up!) is that Maomao could have discovered her uncle's small library at the La clan's house and gotten into medicine on her own.
