Does it seem like to anyone else that Gulan seems to have more plot armour than the mc?

This series is so mediocre. They have to make the MC lose so that the plot the author made can move forward.

this defeat does make some sense..

• Sealed vampire abilities
• Purple sword spirit is resting
• Racist sword is sleeping
• Sword Saint abilities not awakened

Only option left was to use sword/knight techniques in a normal(?) body.. I wish the dual lasted a bit longer while she uses a limited but advanced subset of techniques.

I get the author wanted her to struggle with strength for a bit but such a short dual is hard to feel the struggle.

her vampire ability's were never sealed they were just hiding to get Mc close to the Empress, The mc has been trying to save his sisters soul this whole time counting that the Empress's souls basically dominated the sisters soul, much more shenanigans happens,

Mc's Soul gets sealed up and replaced with the "Knights" soul (this is just a ruse) and the Empress starts to trust them ALOT.

That just sounds like the author retconning his own writing. We've been getting plenty of internal thoughts from MC and get stuff like "Getting close so that I can kill her." and "Damn! My body can't keep up again!". It's one thing to not tell the audience everything that the MC is thinking, but having internal thinking that contradicts the plot development is... not good.

But, I'm jaded at this point, so I'm not surprised that the author would do something like that.
