A Patreon reader noted that 3 pages were missing, and the TS staff was busy at that time... I personally had to patch 3 pages in...

Hopefully, it wasn't too noticeable and it didn't impede your reading experience!

For a race supposedly under great threat from the world around them, it's rather amazing they aren't extinct yet with the level of security they keep showing.

I mean, so far we've got armies showing up at city gates with no alarms or meaningful standing defenses. We've got a wide variety of races that are described as wanting to destroy them living inside their city walls and a part of human military groups. We've monsters popping in the middle of city centers undetected. We've got leaders conspiring to lead enemy forces into the city for petty personal reasons. I mean, are humans really underdogs in this world? I'm rather confused on that point now.

I like that MC didn't care about the midget trap at all that he tossed his weapon at the spider.

But saw this on the front page, didn't expect to read it all in one sitting, lol...

It feels like this whole scene has a bunch of people making decisions that don’t really make sense.

1) Wizard Guy (who... isn’t a knight and is apparently just some random dude?) was wandering around town looking for secret monsters to fight, I guess? And he’s ready to attack people based on just suspicion. Okay, sure. He’s crazy. Got it.

2) Vampire, in being found out as a vampire, decides “Alright, time to fight this dude in broad daylight in the middle of a busy street.” And not, you know, run. Or teleport out? Which is an established Thing they have access to?

3) Crazy Wizard immediately busts out the super-evil-sounding Abyssal Magic. Okay, that’s obviously the Plot Hook this scene was made for, but did we really need that right now on top of everything else going on?

4) Suddenly, monsters! Big ones! In the middle of town! A bunch of them! Somehow!

this is why you don't start speaking with the old ones, sure, at first you see wonders and maybe in your ignorance and arrogance you happen to think you control a little bit of that power, but then you start opening portals by accident, unleashing madness and death upon the innocent, and the next thing you know you're willingly holding profane rites under a moonless sky and sprouting tentacles from your...everywhere...

A short chapter that ends in a cliffhanger is disappointing.

Nevertheless, thanks for the chapter.
