Maybe I'm weird, but I feel that what ML's mother did was more bizarre than saintly.
I think those noblewomen donated because of how wrong it looked, rather than because of their generousity.
She could have used those food in her appeal or speech instead.

Also, these noblewomen must have known why they were invited that day.
Otherwise, their first reaction would not be donating.

Agreed. I feel as though I would have been turned off from donating with that performance.

Glad I’m not the only one that thought the casket was weird.

I’m curious how this contest is conducted? Are there two famine stricken villages, or do they go one at a time with their solutions? Wouldn’t they no longer be famine stricken after the first girl goes?
