@BCS "Tarou/Taro" is common name for males either just "Tarou/Taro" or as a suffix in masculine name such as Kentaro, Rintarou and such. It literally means "eldest son"

He is making fun of her by calling him "Tarou" cause she is boyish instead of her name Maria which is feminine
