Memory drugs huh? As little as the author likes to overtly reveal the motivations of characters, the actual reasons for their actions can be surprisingly shallow. Goomoonrong getting injured in this fight isn't bad, but I feel like it would be more impactful if siwoon killed off some of his new subordinates. There have been multiple cases throughout the series where goomoonrong or the another antagonist kill a master opposing them, but are only driven away from completing their goals by some plot device or loss of an item. They don't actually lose anything though; they just get delayed. Really looking forward to a genuine mud-in- your- eye moment. Would do wonders for the plot.

Siwoon's grudge against Goomoonrong is the weakest link in this story. Yes G killed the elder and that's a reason to oppose him but he also turned Siwoon's life around. The elder couldn't have meant enough to Siwoon for this kind of hatred. Maybe if he had killed someone closer to him.

The writing is this series is really lackluster at times, but a lot of people close to siwoon did die because of Goomoonrong, either directly or indirectly (his mom and two of the elders for example). I agree that the origin of the hatred wasn't written well, it was too spontaneous and completely rewrote siwoon's character from a stupidly kind and determined dumbass to a serious guy who's still kind of a dumbass -although I personally like him more now-
