@crustlessbread - Not sure if the actual translation is uncle strictly (I can't read Hangul), but Asian cultured use honorifics to refer to other people. Sometimes they get extremely nuanced, and don't translate well into English. It's why you see lots of korean/chinese/vietnamese characters refer to each other as "brother," "sister," "aunt," "uncle."

It's like how "Oppa" or "Hyung" sometimes get translated as brother, even though it's something like older male figure that I'm close to.
