Ah I see. So the reason Lucas can not escape the battlefield is because he's choosing to stay and kill Garland but without a doubt will change his mind in the end and save the Garland instead. Thus, Lucas makes an enemy of both sides and can not escape. Ever since I see the Garland being just a little girl, I know there will be some switching sides happen.

I'm also surprised the Pope didn't ask Poppy to assassinate Udo. Her power and personality are suitable for that role. The rest of the Rami team all favor Lucas now except for Poppy and Oscar
Because there are clear parallels between Zoe & Pope, and Garland & Akira. We see that while both are being used by parental figures and have warped perspectives of reality (people in particular), Zoe has an active desire to be her own person and no longer be coddled due to a mix of Lucas' influence as well as knowing she's not vulnerable to anyone (perhaps it can also be that her mind is being influenced by her adult body, a la container shaping the mind and soul), whereas Garland is an actual child who needs protection and guidance, and while she isn't entirely on board with the way Akira does and sees things, can't help but go with the flow either to preserve her own sanity. She even makes a friend with the Facsimile, who parallels Lucas in that he too has a power that essentially controls others and imposes his will upon them, even if they're all based on his mindset at time of creation, but because he lacks courage and sociability (not that Lucas isn't anti-social and self-centered at the beginning, but at least he also doesn't lack in speaking his mind) he wasn't able to connect with her sooner nor really do more than nudge her out of her comfort zone just slightly.

As an aside, it was also interesting to see Oscar leave after the initial toast and drinking, seeing as he wasn't there for the board games or the slumber party. Seems they were playing some game based on the towers, judging by that piece they showed.

There's definitely a sinister parallel between Akira & the Pope. Both of them encourage their naive wards to dehumanize the targets of their mass killing, although this is in a twisted sense merciful to prevent them being wracked with guilt. I like the way this manga illustrates the classic tension between personal morality & the responsibility of leadership, and achieving a larger goal.

Coura stealing the Marking that Zoe made on Lucas to signal him as his property was really funny, like she is implying she would't be able to do that. Lol

A few chapters ago, Akira stated that his foresight had started to fail since Lucas' flowering. And now, the Pope is also wondering whether this has to do with the tower's predictions failing. What only we readers know/remember is that the voice is what caused Lucas' flowering, because of the "vision" it led him to. Whoever sent him that vision did so to trigger the flowering.

Although it was said that Lucas can "see sounds", the only sounds he's been seeing were the ones he himself produced. Why would these be any different ? His sound constellations are able to directly communicate not only motor intents, but also feelings and desires. It would not be a stretch for them to be able to communicate memories as well.

Moreover, the matter of multiple timelines competing for actualization is growing ever more prominent, with at least two characters able to interfere directly with the flow of time, and the whole setting being the result of interferences from the future.

I'm calling it now: the source of that "voice" was Lucas from another timeline.
Not to mention that Akira was openly fidgeting with a Walkman & doesn't know exactly how Lucas' powers work- if the current him can convey all that info with just a trumpet, then him at full power can probably transplant just about his whole damn mind via humming or just about any other kind of sound one might record to cassette without its true nature ever being remotely detectable to average people. An entire plan from the future could be conveniently be carried out by handing a certain overpowered psycho a device you recreated "as a joke" so he'll fiddle with it & unknowingly derail his own plans by playing audio that just so happens to be fuckin loaded with info for someone with synesthesia...

Or I could be wildly overthinking things & the walkman is completely irrelevant or whatever. I'm just spitballing since time travel being a factor really complicates everything.

I'm just not at all surprised that once again the British fucked it all up for the rest of the world.

Coura has as much chance of winning as a blue-haired tsundere childhood friend senpai introduced as the third love interest. But I like her.
