See.. here's the problem. When I imagine a 9 year old, and I imagine a 15-year-old I imagine two very different kinds of people.
One of them is a baby, the other is an adolescent.
If you can't see what's wrong with it, well can't help ya boss

I personally won't drop it because the story and the characters are great. The author has built a lot of goodwill.

Hey, maybe the author decided that Lucas feels "love", as in "care" for Zoe. But since he's a dumb teenager who knows nothing but war he has to wrestle with his feelings and what do they mean?
Could be cool, could further Lucas characterization and the tragedy of being child soldier.

Also, manga readers are kinda vaccinated about Japan and their tendency to sexualize minors.. so there's that.
If it goes any further.. I'll drop it. Don't patronize.

Do you think there is no goal to any creation besides being entertaining? What does it say about the author and the messages they transmit through their work when they trivialize relationships with clear caretaker/infant dynamics?
