Inconsistent fast-food. Some people are angry that he is a coward, others that he is a simp but the problem is he is both.
In later chapters he throws away mantle of a coward.
1)The whole premise of him being a secret hero is quickly blown by a random girl, then her mother (obviously) and the ripple effect just spreads (basically everyone knows).
2)Despite having apparently no loyalty towards government and other heroes he somehow quickly changes his stance to neutral stance.
3)His animosity towards the government was diminished (for no apparent reason, because it throughout the series they never stopped conspiring against him OR trying to use him.
4) He is a simp, giving major gifts to a girl and her Mother. They strongly benefited from him and often times never were shy to manipulate him to gain something or to stimulate his to take action.
5) Old lady comes in who acts as a mediator between government and him, he listens to her as the most loyal subject would. The problem is whilst it is stated why he regards her like that, it is clearly obvious that she doesn't represent his interest but more government interests.
6) My personal dislike: The whole mother daughter pair, basically MC flirted ONCE(to get away from the situation) with girls (aged 16, who blackmailed him) mother. And after that he becomes A FATHER (runs as a joke at first and eventually everyone acknowledges him as her father (ne never once agreed to this). The whole "romance" with the mother is non-existent but somehow everyone this of her as his wife.
My point is, the whole situation is absurd. Guy becomes strong, doesn't seek romance and doesn't even make advances but is being forced (i dunno by author bad writing i guess) to become a father and husband while he clearly stated he isn't. She didn't confess to him (but was ready and basically urging him to do so), he didn't confess to her in a straight manner, it was mostly a muddy request to support him.
Like author made the most weird and stupid family dynamic, that sort of dynamic could only exist if 2 honey traps were sent to autistic guy, who claimed him without his consent and he plays along like a fool.
Eventually, what is seen: He is a strong FOOL, everyone who surrounds him from human side, FORCE THEIR WAY in to his presence and one way or the other manipulate him in to deciding what they deem correct.

Bonus: Author pulled the whole 731 squad and Japanese colonialism on japanese government during one arc demanding that they apologize. (Jap. countered with 16th century Korean invasion, Mc stated it is in a long past whist Japanese colonial times were still experienced by their father and grandfathers (FUNNY THING IS MANWAS SETTING IS IN 2074)

In conclusion, author apparently is AUTHORS, generally direction of the manga was swayed a few times. Political statement above is an ultimate statement of some personal historical grudge despite not being placed in the correct context basically this (those) idiots forgot in which year MC lives.
During my read, saw bunch of people dropping it (wrote their anger and statement)

Just overall a very poor characterization. They try to paint the MC as some reluctant antihero and instead he comes across as an apathetic simpleton willing to let random people he's given his trust make defining decisions for him, all the while affecting some Reddit-tier unaffectedness and mixing it with world-weariness. I just don't like him and he's supposed to be the lynchpin in a tapestry of uninteresting caricatures of personalities.

Still not too far but this MC is pretty unlikeable. I generally appreciate when stories are told from the perspective of someone with a few more years rather than the usual high school or college-age kid still fresh and eager to tackle the world. But this guy doesn't make any sense. If your motto is to do the least work possible, you learn to work hard when it matters so you get less work in the long run, but barring that don't put in effort that's going to create more work for yourself instead.

He's regularly getting into trouble with the system over being forced into a lifestyle of chivalry, which should be hilarious but he only does it for the most asinine of reasons. Frankly I'd love if he actually was calculating enough to pick and choose when to be honorable to try and maximize his bonuses but not hindering himself unreasonably but it's like he's choosing the worst of both worlds being impractical and losing bonuses.

I'm also trying to not judge him for not being altruistic because I think it's part of what makes the premise interesting. But one of things that makes this guy unlikeable is that he picks the most bizarre situations to DIRECTLY cause horrible, even lethal, consequences for people, and it's not even a calculated move. Said consequences have very predictable blowback for himself and people who impact his lifestyle (even if he doesn't actually care about them). Like, I don't expect him to be a saint but if you're going to be an asshole, don't be typecast as an early-chapter cartoon villain when you're the protag. Do evil shit when it makes sense or if it's part of a sensible character development (which I guess could be coming but it doesn't make sense to me yet).

My people.

This guy is annoying. To a certain extent he has to be. His system is cracked. Quite literally he has like 46 useless battles.

There is no scaling price on abilities. The skills of a Brave Saint (Saint Seiya) cost the same as the skills of Medieval Knight.

The only reason he ever has any challenge is cause he's a coward and wasted those fourty six some fights. Imagine. Fourty six more talents on the level that made him master all those martial arts on public speaking and administration(Knight Nobles) Or on Diablo style paladin auras,or Mtg Knight magic or angel summoning, or more knights, or exotic hammer styles, or white magic, or Brettonian Knightly virtues and ward saves or you get the idea. Just with the things listed here it's entirely possible he can never swing a sword again and just exist on the battlefield and half his plot battles would be steam rolled.

Hell he could even develop a grand ambition to get rid of his wretched childhood existence. Chivalry is king after all. It's the ultimate plot. Imagine Knight power is the greatest power and the core power system and all officials have to be knights and swear against corruption, to maintain their duties, and to fight honorably without war crimes.

And everyone gets a miniature version of his system backed by him as a constellation of knightly valour so you can't shut people out of the discourse. Everyone has to follow the rules but the rules aren't tools of oppression but protection.

I like the women. They got him to do shit. But I really wanted them to know how his power works and how much he's wasting it and how that direct waste and cowardice got thousands of people kidnapped and that he then attacked his corrupt government and crippled their defenders instead of murdering those psychopaths first or standing up and dragging them to fight with.
