Oh, I totally forgot that he was preparing for the inevitable invasion from a hoard of gamers.
I was thinking it's a bit silly that he was going on about how the world is a game (when he obviously exists in it), and gaining magical powers from this 'epiphany', but when actual gamers are arriving in the world it makes such an epiphany reasonable.
