I find the explanation of Akutsu's politics a little sophomoric. It's a very "what's wrong with this society is the division!" take on politics that labels all sides as equally extremist. It's also rather inaccurate as an examination of demagoguery: Akutsu-qua-demagogue is now also being put in the position of something akin to the cultural intelligentsia, broadcast news outlets who air debates and such. That's a rather inaccurate portrayal of the mechanics by which demagogues control the conversation. I think the mangaka is conflating several different groups here.

you're right, it's a super libbed up and simplistic worldview on display, but I personally find it refreshing that the mangaka seemingly isn't a cryptofascist.
