Wait.
The villain wants to kill people because... he's angry that they killed his important people.

Let's recapitulate...
  • MC killed one, along with his men, because they went to kill him against orders to the contrary. Even Dragon boy here previously agreed that this was justified.
  • MC killed the second one because he was blackmailed into a duel to the death. By another of his "important people". Using yet another one, the most important one, as a hostage.
  • The third, miss Most Important, was then killed by the previously mentioned hostage taker. The enemy leader doesn't even have the excuse of being deceived by his woman general. He knows she killed the young girl. But he still decides to kill MC and his family because... he couldn't protect his own people... from his own people... so it must be the MC's fault somehow.

I don't mind evil characters "just because evil". It's a little lazy but it's acceptable as a classic trope. We don't need a tragic background for every single villain.
But I do mind stupid, inconsistent, lazy writing. I understand making up a reason for these two to fight. I can't stand the reason being so incredibly dumb.
Even the shallow "evil by nature" trope would have worked better.

Also, he wanted to ask MC's family to cure the girl. But he never bothered to. Until she's killed at the hand of someone from his own faction. Which makes him angry at the person he wanted to ask for help but was too slow - too dumb really - to actually... you know... go and ask.

So, fights will occur in this series because the author wants to, not because he crafted a believable reason for it.
I'm not sure about dropping this just yet, but I've got a strong feeling to do so.

Well fuck, that's shitty.

You could at least say abreast demon or something made him crazy with grief to make this more believable.

Agreed. There's also the fact that dragon boy previously sought out MC's mom and threw a tantrum that set back MC's family's development.

I was expecting the villain to have some justification for doing that shit which could've been revealed later but seeing as how he's petty af with MC for his own subordinates' faults, he's really just a poorly written villain now lol

Wrong. The one who went after MC's mom? That's the other bad guy who the the taoists are fighting offscreen while MC came here.

And also, yeah the Villain's actions aren't logical anymore, but that's not because of bad writing, it's because he's gone mad with grief and anger.

He has reached a mental state of nothing but apathy and anger, so with nothing left he is taking his anger out on anyone and anything around.
