Developing the supporting cast is never "filler". A quality series is doing this every time the main pair isn't interacting directly. A great series is doing this even when they are.

Kana looks a lot like Kyo in every page they appear together unless there's specific effort made not to. They look more like actual siblings than any non-twin pair this side of the Tadanos.

So like every major post confession character is in one spot and they've been hyping up Kyo's song for a few chapters.
The end of this volume will be the end of a hypothetical season 3, so I wouldn't be surprised if Norio is planning to have it start and end with a concert, with a possible relationship reveal.

I'm not super interested in this particular part of the story. I'm glad that the main relationship is healthy and steady. Hope that holds up.

What is this? Characters acting like people? Friends being able to find some common ground and understanding? in a japanese romance manga? LUDICROUS! RIDICULOUS! I DEMAND MORE!
I don't see it as filler, the supporting cast of this series is very good and now it's given more focus, something that the series always lacked but wasn't so necessary, I appreciate it anyway.
But I'm not very convinced by the plot of the gang and the direct approach that Norio wants to give to this problem, Kyo and Anna are involved in this but even so, I don't know what Norio is looking for with this narrative and where she wants to go involving the main couple in this.
I'm a bit worried about not seeing sense in things at the moment, but I trust her.
