You know... In this instance, I actually like how the anime was more succinct with the Chii-Kyo conversation, here. Sometimes, less is more, and this feels like one of those times. It was only a few lines but said a good chunk of what's here, and leaves Kyo to figure out it's possibly about an audition, which feels more appropriate given Chii's level of awareness of how close Kyo and Anna are (as in, she doesn't just assume his knowledge state about the audition, nor that he even should know if it's clear he doesn't).
In the anime, he knows Anna made a 'choice', he just doesn't know what that 'choice' was yet. He was also the one to voice the observation about Anna having 'forced enthusiasm' after a bit of prompting from Chii, which I liked much better than Chii doing it outright, as it is showing us more clearly that he is observant about these sorts of things, so long as he has sufficient prompting, and might also start to clue in Chii on how close Kyo and Anna are, finally, even if it might take spelling out ultimately, anyway.
Basically, the way I see it from the anime's perspective... he didn't consciously notice 'it' (staying true to the chapter title), but once prompted he realized he saw the signs and starts actively worrying about them. This, to me, feels better.
But I will say I like Kyo standing up for Chii at the end, here, disagreeing with calling her a bad group leader. That didn't come up at all in the anime's version of events and they just part ways with simple, casual remarks. Which is fine, just would have liked seeing him disagree with Moeko, Serina, and herself criticizing her failure. Especially herself, since he knows all too well about self-deprecation.
There's things the anime does better, and things the manga does better during this chapter's events.
I also wanted to note I liked the added scene in the anime during the prior chapter's events with Kyo fantasizing about a possible kiss scenario while on the trip. Really, the anime is doing some decent stuff with this volume, so far. There's differences, and some things omitted even with more runtime to work with, but overall it seems very faithful and even adds to the experience in a number of places, despite the omissions.
I kinda wish it was 16 episodes a season so all the volume adaptations could be like this.
Edit: Oh yeah... I've been mostly ignoring the chucklehead, but how does the comment section's 'Bayashiko' see Anna in Yurine (Hanzawa), anyway? She's just about the exact opposite in terms of expression and seems to lack any and all of Anna's overt enthusiasm. There's clearly a lot of emotion contained behind that face, but she struggles to express it, like a true kuudere. Anna, on the other hand, is mostly a genkidere, which is pretty much the exact opposite, and has been forced to restrain herself with Kanna Andou's threatening presence.
