This Takada person is being played up to be Jiro's forerunner with legendary status, but I have the impression Jiro will outshine him very obviously if they ever face off (like, in high school or Major League), given that Namiki had the hunch our protagonist might become the greatest pitcher anyone's ever seen.

Speaking of hunches, I had one that got confirmed: Jiro's first pitch was out of pity for Yamato's mother. Others are commenting that saying "I'd have felt bad for your mother" was especially humiliating for Yamato, but I get the impression he was speaking specifically of the lost opportunity of seeing her son batting, not of Yamato's skill. After all, if he'd picked Komu off on the first pitch, that wouldn't have meant anything in terms of Yamato's batting ability, he'd just have lost the chance to bat at all.

And as predicted, Komu's taking flak for slacking on his position, but let's be honest, everyone thinks so poorly of Yamato that they'd all have lost focus as well had they been the ones in that situation.

I wish we'd seen more of Jiro's teammates' reactions, especially Ariga. From what little we've seen, Hideaki and Tokio are shocked as usual.

I wonder whether we'll see the tournament in detail, or whether we'll just see it in a dash and move on to high school. The author doesn't seem too interested in games unless it's to showcase Jiro's development.
