This could easily be the most-looped challenge yet, and it's caused her to lose control of her faculties.

Makes me wonder how Fran's gonna factor into the ending of this arc (replacement executioner wouldn't make sense because Lafine wants it abolished, so...yeah guess we'll see).

That's just going to make her want to end up executing you more. Now, unless she lets her have free time to also treat people in the slums, she's going to be taking all of her time away from helping people that actually need it.

I'm guessing this is a scheme to get to know her more easily. Yes, appointing someone who despises you to be your physician is a fast track to execution time, but this may be the only way Marie has to get closer to her.

Okay, so, the key to this er… “problem“ is going to be Lafine’s wish. Apparently this has something to do with her mother. Whether that is her actual mother or her ”mother” is unknown, though if Marie was the cause of something terrible happening to Lafine’s ACTUAL mother which then made her project and warp her feelings towards her onto the guillotine that would make sense. We also know that executioner is a hereditary position: could Lafine’s mother be the previous executioner and somehow Marie’s ignorant handling of her official royal duties, or her promiscuous ways, have caused the problem?

She’s an executioner, not a torturer, and one that takes pride in her work whilst still believing it shouldn’t be done. There’s no way she’d be cruel, even to her worst enemy. Well, physically at least 😏
