No you ding-dong. She wasn't "caught". Honestly ironic how you even went out of your way to underline the most wrong part of your opinion. Rather, the opposite..

She instead revealed the truth. She always had good intentions & conflicted, and was at worst mistaken.. but only just then finally had the cliché sudden character development of finally growing a spine at a climactic moment. In-fact, in what world would an actual self-serving person do that? Worst case scenario.. Shirley should know telling Merlin the truth could've even possibly resulted in him going on a bloody rampage after discovering he'd been deceived in such a disgusting way.

Also, why are we even discussing how Shirley didn't face "repercussions" and not that shithead council elder? Was disappointed that Merlin didn't at the very least threaten that old fart with killing intent after hearing the truth. At most.. would've loved to see him slaughter 'im and leave the rest of the elves a grave warning for wronging him. Would've been much more fitting for his character with him not giving a shit when he's that pissed off.
