Okay...so, this is super embarrassing to watch, but I’ll actually say this is more of the duke’s fault. The doctor just told him that he gave Jace a bunch of anesthesia, and here this man is trying to have a serious conversation with somebody who’s on a high dosage of something that’s on the same level as morphine. Just because he can respond doesn’t mean he isn’t high.

I know the duke will take his request seriously, which isn’t great? I know what genre I’m reading, so I know how this will go, but I also know that what Jace probably wants is permanent employment. But these stories tend to be silly with happy endings, so hopefully it turns out okay.
