Alice's mom is harem protagonist.

Also, I love how the mom do have resemblance with her kids. Now I'm expecting the dad is actually like Viola, since she share her paranoids thinking to her sons.

@Purplelibraryguy Alice is more precise, like Gerbera (maybe she grew like some sort of “half-way” between them?) while her mom is a total klutz.

@Tamerlane I agree for the first part, for the last sentence there is a clarification to make: if Japan’s laws would be “valid” in this world, then even as step-siblings they could still marry.

@goodhunter Well first, I think @Tamerlane is probably right that they're just loving friends. Not that I'd mind if there was a frisson there, but I think probably not in this case.
But second, he may be a good man, but clearly not a good enough man to represent any kind of exception to Gerbera's "had no human contact with anyone" schtick despite fathering three kids on her. So, like, not a good enough man to actually be nice to her or treat her like a human being while fucking her--that's some pretty generic "good man" ing.

@goodhunter what are you talking about? Gerbera loves her husband. You can love your bestfriends and your mate. The love you feel between your mate and bestfriends are two different things but we do not have a word to differentiate the two

@goodhunter They don't love each other romantically, like Gebera said, it's not "true" love. It's just a very close friendship that was common in a lot of literature, something that's a very tight bond. Not all love is romantic, as @Liquidxlax pointed out.

@Purplelibraryguy Honestly given what we know about the Duke's grandfather, he was a very strict but caring and gentle man. I doubt that he would raise someone that would treat his wife like an object, given the dynamics we have already seen within his family. Plus the fact she describes him as very honest and sincere implies that he genuinely loves her, but it was some sense of alienation on her part that drove the two away.

I think it would be more interesting to invert the trope, where the Duke's father is a good husband and he genuinely is trying to care for his wife and family, but the obligations of his social standing and his incredible duties means he can't interact with them much, and you can sense that feeling of alienation from his wife who has lived a very strict life where everything was taught to be prim and proper, and so his attempts to extend the olive branch just came across as strange and she wouldn't be able to fully bridge the gap between them, so to say.

Obviously we're both just speculating because we don't have much basis for this, but I think it would be a much more interesting story that would be more consistent with what we know about the characters

@emMeBi86 They couldn't because I think they're both already married, albeit I don't know who Alice's dad is. I might be wrong, though.

@goodhunter How is saying that you love your unique friend cheating?

How idiot are you all to thing there is any romance in this? They act like close friend, how could this be take as anything close to yuri... This entire chapter is explaining how close the two of them are as friend...

I hate how in this generation people are, disregarding any platonic relationships and whenever two people from the same gender show any affection everyone assume that it is romantic.

In a way I find this way of thinking disregard consent and the owner wishes.

People really hanging on that "im not sure if it's true love" line bit like it's their last hope in an increasingly gay world

Y'all. There's been romantic subtext hints about those two for yearsssssssssssssss get over it. If you wanna read it as platonic that's on you but don't try and justify that as the only valid reading.

Listen, I'm all for gay relationships and this manga has already shown such a relationship, so it's not shy about it... but I truly believe this is a friendship thing and not a romantic "I love you". It's the same thing as Sam and Frodo in LotR.

Either way, its incredibly sweet! I just wish she could be more open and sweet to HER OWN DAMN CHILDREN, who clearly have lacked parental love and approval all their life.

No matter how you interpret their relationship, Gerbera and Sharon have a very loving one. And seeing it makes me anxious about Sade's plan or w/e it is that may or may not involve Sharon.

Also if you can't tell your friends you love them with out any romantic connotations, then how do your friends know you care? Like, life's to short for my friends not to know I love them. If something happens, I want my friends to know that they are loved.

That is so cute.

After reading the comments, I guess some people here don't know you can express your love to your friends that way and it doesn't have to be gay or anything.
