Thank you for including the translation notes. It's really great to be able to understand what was originally said and compare it to what the translated result, as well as the modifications to make it understandable in another language is.
Sure the guy's hateful for now, but fraternal rivalry can really turn you into an awful human being after all, so he's not completely unsympathizeable (also, he makes some damn good facial expression XD)
It will be interesting when Walter meets his brother again and realizes how much the isolation/interactions with Alice have caused him to mature. It will be a nice foil I think.
Is it only me that thinks that the MC rather not inherit the family? I mean wouldn't that mean that he couldn't marry a commoner but had to marry another noble lady? Looks to me like he'd rather become a musician (without curse) and marry our most beloved Alice!
@BriantheGinger They already laid the foundation for it thought. That scene where he said that our lovely MC got all of the mother's affection seems to be the reason for his complex. That is probably going to be expanded upon more in the future and used to redeem him.
Ah, so the mother does love Duke the most. I was mistakenly getting the impression that she doesn't like him so she hasn't appeared since the beginning.
Walter's life must be a type of hell. Being the spare means that he can neither inherit the title nor go into business because that is unbecoming of his position. It is easy to understand his hate because no matter how hard he tries he can't achieve anything meaningful. His current unique situation must be anxiety inducing because at any given time his position can be snatched away and there is nothing he can do about it.
If the duke does get cured he's just going to want to be with our favorite maid, and (I'm assuming dukes can't marry commoners) will probably renounce his title.
@Simbloom he is in the typical position of a second son of nobility.
He has to live under the shadow of the first born, but with the pressure of maybe having to inherit the family as the replacement, and that means he gets none of the love and all of the pressure to become successful without the opportunity to actually put that to work, they can't just leave neither because in case that anything happens to the first born they have to be around handy and ready to become the new head, their life is decided for them, but they don't get any of the benefits of power that the future master will get. It is not unusual to see the second son to plot murder against the first, or to leave and be brandished a traitor by the family, royalty dramas is always about the evil uncle that couldn't come to love and support their brother the king.
Walter after how your mother reacted to the Duke becoming cursed I'd say she's a pretty shitty mother. Who would want the love of someone that fickle who didn't pay proper attention to you in the first place? Like that's also notable because baby sis has felt neglect by the mum too. She does not sound like a good parent.
Walters more of a goof ball than I thought he'd be tho. Totally thought he'd be the dark angsty younger brother who hated his elder sibling.
Also I'm going to be very upset if Walter is the reason he got cursed.
Eldest son was favored until he got cursed, then got treated like he either is a monster or didn't exist by everyone around him.
Second son got treated as replacement for when something happen spoiler something did happen but the damage was already dealt and now he's living with a gigantic complex.
Makes me appreciate having a loving and cute wife maid more than ever.
