I'm so sorry, but can someone please explain to me how its clear it isn't Alice's mother?
@amaterasu93 I guess to resolve the curse someone who loves the Duke has to kiss him. In that case Alice will sacrifice herself to safe the Duke.
i guess : Alice’s Mother cursed the young Duke because his mother didn’t liked the idea, that her first born son is getting along with the daughter of a maid. (Maybe Alice mother suggested something about the future of them both and it angered the dukes mother) Anyway the mother is involved in it somehow: Her shock when she saw Sharon (Alice). Her reaction, when the duke announced his intend to marry Alice. (way to calm for how the kids described her)
As mentioned above I guess the curse isn’t about living cursed, but loosing the Person who he loves the most, because a kiss by a beloved one will resolve the curse, but he will ultimately loose his loved one for ever. And in that case he will alone and in misery, because of his loss.
Plot twist: Alice is immune for some reason. Alice knows how to lift the curse, but is seeking for other options.
Edit: As for me the whole story could go on forever. i love the way Alice teases the Duke and the way she i drawn.(emotionless and cute)

Seems like Alice's mom wasn't the caster of the curse (she wouldn't have written about seeing two people dressed as white nuns like that if she or her sister were one of them, we know she looked practically identical to how Alice does now but Alice doesn't really look like the curse caster in the Duke's flashbacks), though that doesn't rule out Daleth's sister casting it on her behalf.
