Omg hahaha, this is why I have a love/hate relationship with harems (especially with the ancient ones).

I love the drama, I love seeing cunning women plotting, thinking, reacting, feeling, maybe building alliances or maybe killing each other (ofc the deaths always brings mixed emotions in me because no character is just black or white), but it's also the place where every woman will suffer (without exception). It can be the maids, the concubines, the imperial concubines, the Empress, the Empress Dowager, etc. All of them and all the time will have to give up something important inside of them in order to survive (mainly because the Palace and the men don't give 2nd chances). And if u kill someone, you'll be taken as merciless or ruthless, evil and you'll probable be and the Emperor will lost his "love" because u couldn't keep his favorite fantasy alive; but if you're not, you're probably be going to be killed soon, and maybe your man will be sad for some days, but then someone else will come to pass the time with him, and the memory of u won't even be important enough to secure the life of your son/daughter's life in the eyes of that person.

The feelings they once had will disappear and they'll be "replaced" as if they were mere objects, for someone younger, prettier, richer, wiser, smarter, sexier, with a more prominent background, more useful or whatever the freaking Emperor could want. Slowly but surely all of them will be losing their humanity, confidence, self-esteem, brightness, and the Emperor will be mad and disappointed at them because they can't stop time and can't stop losing their dreams, hopes, pure feelings and a whole freaking illusion that makes him believe he's the center of the world; except ofc for our magical MC, who tbh hasn't even have her happiness granted/secured.

Harems are cool and it's one of my favorites idk, genres? Lol, but in the end, everyone is under a man who doesn't really care and it's forced and re-enforced to not care. Harems really have some situations that are hard for the heart. This event here wasn't really big, but it hurt. We know this is just the beginning of the future I described before and the beginning of a man taking 20, 40, 100, 200 concubines and where everyone will be fighting to gain his "favor", ready to kill each other, to kill each other's babies, and so on and so on. Is wise of the Crown Princess to react like this, but it's certainly discouraging as well as sad, that a man (under this context) can't keep his promises of love, loyalty, and respect. The characters always say they'll be loyal but they end up betraying anyways, I'd love to see happy endings in harem stories, but that's too impossible, lol. I guess we who are fans of this kind of story really like to suffer. xD

Ps. At some point, I was kinda lost about what the roles of others in the story are, but I guess we can consider the Crown Princess like the antagonist of the MC? How many chapters this will have? I want to have an idea of what's going to happen, lol.

Ps.2. Idk why but I'm kinda cheering for the Crown Princess (and it's weird I know, she's ruthless and she killed An Qi's friend who was just a silly person, but again that is to be expected due to her position, but then again she was nonsensical and we're talking about someone's life -even if is fictional-, but the values are not the same and a slave in ancient times were nothing compared to royals and sigh*). At least I'd want her to be happy with her own marriage but I suppose that can't last for long either, otherwise, the MC and ML won't be able to get their respective revenge and what they want.
