@Hemorrhoids yeah, the princess carry, bed of flowers, and light kiss on the forehead sure seems like rough treatment compared to all that bloodshed and murderous intent. He is gentle towards her. Not her interests or the people who care for her, just her. To be baffled isn't stupid. Though there's a high chance of him being at least a controlling ass and probably abusive.
