@someloveno3 its the mark on her face. a lot of their beauty standards revolved around perfectly clear skin. even freckles were looked down on.

Agree with everyone that MC looks beautiful. However, I'm not Chinese or familiar with ancient customs of beauty so might be a cultural thing rather than purely physical. So rather than being ugly because look ill from boils, pus, and pockmarks on the face it could be something about her face is considered ugly by the locals. This is just a guess but she's likely considered ugly because of that mark on the side of her face which the locals might think should be smooth and unblemished to be considered pretty. Also, the poor MC seems to have attracted the attention of royalty who she's likely is going to cure or provide more effective medicine for. Especially since he seems to be developing a crush on her, or at least on her warm body. Wonder if he's the first prince and is he related to that third prince who showed up in ch7?
