Dumb, If he isn’t a few levels more powerful than the prince, I don’t understand how he would think that someone their leader would invite themselves so enthusiastically would be a good person to talk down on. I mean it doesn’t really seem like the prince is following him but it’s him following the prince, right?

Second, wasn’t she announced as the top newcomer in their school? That could mean that she could potentially be weaker than them as their junior but topping would still mean that she was strong, at the very least she was stronger than almost all of the newcomers. Was he absent or something? Slept through the whole announcement and the three days after and was only informed afterwards by his helper friends about the competition?

For a prince so cunning and seemingly smart, his helpers, or at least one, is freaking slappable idiot thrown in just to make her look better. Not that she needs it . Maybe the prince brought him to be bait for the monsters.
