Well… what did I expect? I mean this IS a rofan novel, but at least give the FMC some character development, you know? I went through a whole fucking season of this expecting a smidge of the fmc being somewhat decent, but no. All she does is to make patisseries and baked goods and everyone likes her, and she sometimes is a genius but is a kid so she is clumsy and confused and— cut the crap. You don’t know how to write a good mc, that’s it. There’s no redeeming qualities in even the male mcs too, wow who would’ve guessed? Fourty three chapters of “here’s male character, he’ll go closer to our fmc now, oh that’s cute, you know they’ll have romantic feelings for her because of that, right? Here, have some more signs.” I. KNOW. I AM READING IT. Oh my god did I want to just drop this 17 chapters in because in the beginning you see fmc say “I want to go home.” And there in chapter 17, she says “At least I have you” or some bullshit in his COUSIN that she has gripes with cause in the original story he kills her and OH MY GOD does she ever think that “Maybe, and, I’m just theorising here: what if I leave the palace and go back to mom and dad so he wouldn’t kill me in the future?” You know? But noo I will stay in the palace cause I want to cook and I’ll forget my loving family because my cousin would’ve kill me in the original timeline that has ALREADY CHANGED TWO CHAPTERS IN BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T MAKE SO MUCH SCENE.

As a fan of cooking manhwas and mangas like Nobu, or Afterlife Diner, or Chef of Nobunaga, this DOESN’T even have the appeal of good food to make me stay. I get it, it’s cake, SIMPLE baked goods, but… it’s unappealing. The most character I had was the soup she made, because it “looked bad”, and honestly, that’s the best one that she made imo cause it had character in it. Most of the food is only there for aesthetics and is decent at best.


Overall, bad. Can’t even recommend this for cooking, try fcking… How to Survive a Romance Fantasy Novel . Hey, at least there there is a good initial premise if I remember correctly I don’t know it’s been two years since I’ve read some chapters of this.
